About the Executive Director of the IREM Georgia Chapter
Deborah Westphal, CPM®, ARM®, is the Executive and School Director for the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) for the GA Chapter. Westphal brings to IREM expansive knowledge and background of the real estate industry from personal experience of more than twenty years.
Deborah has been a member since 1996 and served on the IREM GA Executive Council as the Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Communications, Vice President of Membership and Vice President of Education. She also believes in volunteering at the national level and continues serving on commitees.
She has received numerous honors: from IREM, including the 2009 and 2019 Presidential Award, Certified Property Manager® (CPM®) of the year for 2007, Accredited Resident Manager (ARM®) of the Year for 2006, and Membership Team awards with the Atlanta Apartment Association.
Working with Lane Company fourteen years, a Pillars of the Industry finalist for Regional Manager of the Year, she was also a REO Portfolio Regional, her portfolio was awarded the Annual Highest Effective Rent Growth when the company had over 30K units, and maintained the highest KPI's 14 consecutive months company wide until her departure in 2006. Her teams had the lowest turnover and the highest performance evaluations.
From a Leasing agent to a Vice President, Westphal's philosophy remained the same: Provide Exceptional Service, Know the goals and create the environments for everyone to be successful in. Hire high potential individuals, focusing on their strengths and training for improvement as needed. Do not take things personally or too seriously as long as you are doing the absolute best you can do.
